Daucus carota Wild gardens! Eco gardens! Cottage gardens!  Whatever you've got going on, you need some wild carrot in your life. As you might expect, she's one of the ancestors of carrot, the vegetable. She’s the prettiest bee paradise you can imagine.  Shades from the lightest dusky pink to deepest red wine and velvety chocolate, she’s incredibly eye-catching in any flower bed. The thousands of little flowers won't just perk up your flower beds or pots; they also look absolutely stunning as cut flowers (after cutting, place the stems in boiling water for a few seconds to make them last longer). And she flowers all summer long! She’s a particularly great addition to eco gardens because she attracts pollinators, such as bees. Although you can grow her as an annual plant, the plants will grow much bigger and stronger if you sow them later and leave them to flower the following year. Height: 120cm (47") Hardiness: Hardy annual. Where: Full sun When: April to June inside (biennial) or March to April (outside for flowers the same year). August to September for flowers the following year (those will be stronger). Spacing: 30cm (12") Harvesting/Flowering: June to August (or the following year if sowed late) A paradise for insects Contents: Approx. 150 seeds   Photo: Janina Laszlo

Experiences that take root & love of gardening that connects
Happy gardeners

Your list accompanies me every time I go plant shopping, and even though my garden is very, very small, I'll be using many of it. I'm so glad I found your site!

Sandra

Thank you so much for your wonderful tips! Your tulip bulbs were a dream. I enjoyed the magnificent sea of flowers every day.

Edith

I thought long and hard about whether to treat myself to a rose fork from your shop. I ordered yesterday, and today it arrived – lovingly packaged, as always! Thank you for always making me feel appreciated and valued as a person.

Alexandra

Thank you for your inspiration and the beautiful images you continue to share. My path to an enchanted, lush garden is currently going deep and touching many inner levels. The cottage garden teaches so much for life: letting go, relinquishing control, allowing abundance, seeing beauty, and learning to enjoy. Thank you for the impetus for this process.

Annika

My dahlias from you turned out huge – beautiful and with so many flowers.

Live

Dear Sarah, thank you for your incredibly beautiful seeds. I've already ordered more tulips and more for spring.

Kathi

Daniela

I just love everything I have from you – especially the dahlias.

Regina

Your dahlias are really amazing.

Nico

I just ordered from you again, dear Sarah, and I'm really looking forward to January so I can order more dahlias. I was so impressed with your dahlias this year – they're truly perennial bloomers! Thank you for the wonderful selection in your shop.

Freya

This morning I was telling my husband about you. We were standing in the garden admiring the tulips, and I said, "Honey, we need more of these!" Now I see your email—that's a sign!
