Preorder now  |  Delivery at planting time in March and April. Quite possibly the most romantic dahlia. She looks like a bouquet of pale-pink cotton wool balls, almost a creamy blush colour. This sorceress of the dahlia world has been blessed with an extra dose of charm. She doesn't grow quite as tall as the others. If you want them in a vase, it's best to cut them before the pompoms fully open. Waiting until they're in bloom means they'll drop their leaves quicker. She's absolutely beautiful planted together with other delicate shades, such as "Shiloh Noelle" or "Café au Lait"". Tip: Pinch dahlias as soon as they are 20cm to 30cm (8" to 12") tall: simply shorten the shoot tip by a third. This way, they'll form more shoots, flower more and look bushier. And, if you're hungry for more dahlia details, have a look at my "Dahlia Delight" eBook. Everything you ever wanted to know about caring for your dahlias and, of course, full to the brim with beautiful photos and inspiration. Planting: May, after the last frost — dahlias are sensitive to frost! Or pre-grow them in a frost-free environment. Location: Preferably in full sun. Dahlias also tolerate partial shade, but they won't flower as lavishly. Flowering period: July to the first frost Flower size: 5cm (2") to 9cm (3.5") Flower type: Ball Colour: Pale pink Height: 80cm (31.5") Spacing: 40cm (16") Quantity: 1 tuber Dahlias are often wrongly described as not insect-friendly. But for most of them, as soon as the flowers open up (even the fully double ones), Bees & Co can access stamen and pollen.    Photos: Seila Malo/My Cottage Garden

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

Planting

  • Plant the tuber with the cut stem facing upwards, cover with 3 – 5 cm of soil, water sparinglyuntil the first shoots appear.
  • Pre-cultivation: Plant in pots indoors from March/April.
  • Plant directly in the bed: If you want to be absolutely safe, wait until the Ice Saints. Otherwise, plant from late April/early May and pay attention to the weather forecast. Protect the new shoots from night frost if necessary.

CARE

  • Location: Dahlias love sun. They also thrive in partial shade, although they usually produce fewer flowers.
  • Support: Support tall growing varieties, ideally inserting a stake when planting to avoid damaging the tubers.
  • Remove dead flowers: Promotes more and longer blooms.
  • Watering: Avoid waterlogging, ensure well-drained soil.

Tweezing

  • Cut the main stem 20–30 cm above a pair of leaves. This promotes branching, stronger growth, and more stable stems.

OVERWINTERING

Dig up after the first frost and shorten shoots to 5 cm.

Place tubers in wooden boxes lined with newspaper and cover with sand. Store in a cool, frost-free place.

GENERAL INFORMATION

🐝 Dahlias are often wrongly considered insect-unfriendly flowers. However, as soon as the blossoms open—even densely filled ones—they release their stamens, making them accessible to bees and other insects.

Flower Happiness Guarantee: You should enjoy your dahlias 100%. Sometimes, however, nature does what it wants—and that's actually quite nice, but not always in the best interest of us gardeners. In rare cases, a tuber fails to sprout. If this happens to you, please contact me! We'll find a solution 💚
