PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS

SOWING

Pre-cultivation: Sow indoors in deep pots starting in early spring. Soak seeds in water overnight beforehand. Move young plants outdoors and gradually acclimate them to cooler temperatures. Sweet peas are one of the cool flowers that develop a strong root system, especially in colder temperatures. Protect them with fleece against severe frosts.

Direct sowing: Sow in the bed from April or late summer, 1.5 cm deep.

Distance: 20 – 30 cm

LOCATION AND CARE

Light: Sunny, tolerates partial shade. Protected from wind, avoid waterlogging.

Watering: Regularly during dry periods.

Fertilizing: Prepare the soil with compost or manure, then fertilize regularly.

Mounding: Mound nutrient-rich soil from a height of 10 cm onwards, this promotes root formation.

Pruning: For even more flowers, regularly remove dead flowers.

Tweezing

Cut the main shoot at 20 – 30 cm height above a pair of leaves – for more branching, strong growth and more stable stems.

Climbing aid

Sweet peas need support (e.g. fence, string, branches).

CLEANING

Cut off flowers regularly, because as soon as the plants form seeds they quickly stop flowering.
