The color spectrum ranges from white to purple, pink, blue, and gray-blue. Spot contrasts in the complementary color of pale yellow-green, "shimmering" plants, and solitary plants that add structure lend the flowerbed an irresistible vibrancy. The Himalayan birch (it grows to approximately 5–6 meters tall) with its radiant white trunk is a highlight in every season, especially in winter. Its delicate leaves in spring enhance the lightness of the bed. The miscanthus in the background provides good privacy. Fennel seeds itself when it feels comfortable without becoming intrusive.
