Nigella damascena Anyone can grow love-in-a-mist! At least, that’s my rather strongly held opinion. It's easy to cultivate and, once the delicate flowers have wilted, decorative "puffed-up" seed pods will form. These dry brilliantly and look lovely in floral arrangements. Miss Jekyll is sky blue, lasts for ages in a vase and is also happy in a pot. Snails avoid it (yippee!). It's best to sow the seeds to look almost a little haphazard or cover a large surface area so they don’t get ‘swallowed up’ by more prominent neighbours. Their delightful blooms look just like little skirts. Height: 40 - 50cm (16" to 20") Hardiness: Hardy annual Where: Full sun, partial shade When: Directly outdoors, middle of March to May or August to October. Spacing: 20cm (8") Harvesting/Flowering: May to September or the following year, if you sow them late.  Tip: Re-sow two or three times for a longer flowering period. A paradise for insects Contents: Approx. 700 seeds   Photos 1, 2 & 3: Janina Laszlo

Happy gardeners

Your list accompanies me every time I go plant shopping, and even though my garden is very, very small, I'll be using many of it. I'm so glad I found your site!

Sandra

Thank you so much for your wonderful tips! Your tulip bulbs were a dream. I enjoyed the magnificent sea of flowers every day.

Edith

I thought long and hard about whether to treat myself to a rose fork from your shop. I ordered yesterday, and today it arrived – lovingly packaged, as always! Thank you for always making me feel appreciated and valued as a person.

Alexandra

Thank you for your inspiration and the beautiful images you continue to share. My path to an enchanted, lush garden is currently going deep and touching many inner levels. The cottage garden teaches so much for life: letting go, relinquishing control, allowing abundance, seeing beauty, and learning to enjoy. Thank you for the impetus for this process.

Annika

My dahlias from you turned out huge – beautiful and with so many flowers.

I just ordered from you again, dear Sarah, and I'm really looking forward to January so I can order more dahlias. I was so impressed with your dahlias this year – they're truly perennial bloomers! Thank you for the wonderful selection in your shop.

This morning I was telling my husband about you. We were standing in the garden admiring the tulips, and I said, "Honey, we need more of these!" Now I see your email—that's a sign!
